Baby Nemos – Starting out
Welcome to your baby’s lifelong swimming journey! The Baby Nemos program introduces your little swimmer to the joys of swimming for the very first time, gradually progressing over 5 different classes as your child ages and advances. Infants from 3-months to 3+ years are grouped together to allow comparable developmental needs, support and fun.
All EwSwim programs run in conjunction with NSW School Terms. Cost is $25 per class per child, term-fee is payable prior to the start of term.
CLOWNFISH – 3-8 Months
‘Clown Fish’ offers a warm and wonderful introduction to swimming for your baby and special bonding experience for you both. Together, you’ll be gently and safely guided in the pool as we focus on water familiarisation, proper holds, breath control and pool safety. Baby’s six senses will be stimulated through buoyancy and early water play as we learn fun educational games and happy songs.
STARFISH – 8-16 Months
‘Starfish’ is when baby really starts to enjoy the water through familiarity, safe exploration and happy play. As your little swimmer becomes more mobile and independent, our activities also become more adventurous to meet their developing motor skills. We continue work on core strength, co-ordination, breath control and safety. Along with flotation and kicking as baby’s confidence and stamina builds.
TURTLES – 16-24 Months
‘Turtles’ lessons continue with fundamental swim movements, extending breathing control, water safety, and having even more fun in the water with games and songs! Back floats, submersions, propulsion as well as lots of wall jumps, turns and fun mat work, will help your toddler reach the level where they can swim unassisted for short distances.
SEAHORSE – 24-36 Months
‘Seahorses’ is where the lessons pick up pace for the confident swimmer. This age group is curious and fearless and often likes to do their own thing! This independence is encouraged but with guidance and safe boundaries. We build on your toddler’s experience with an emphasis on propulsion as their motor skills and confidence develop. If you’re just starting with EwSwim, you’ll be placed with others of similar ability.
PENGUINS – 36+ Months
‘Penguins’ are confident, independent and happy little swimmers who are working towards being unaccompanied by their parents in the pool. By the completion of this class, your child will be able to swim 5m across the pool doing the swim-float-swim sequence which is rolling on their back for a breath. They’ll be working towards the correct kicking action front and back, collecting toys from the bottom unaided and being confident in deep water. Your child will be placed with children of similar level, if they’re a beginner or unsure.
